CheckPointStrikeforce.net Drunk Driving. Over the limit. Under Arrest.

Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia & West Virginia Law Enforcement has started CheckPointStrikeForce.net a internet, Television, and radio advertising campaign against Drink Driving and declaring more sobriety check points.

These states will carrying out intensive law enforcement and sobriety checkpoints to attempt to catch impaired drivers. Law enforcement agencies stopped over 800,000 drivers last year using sobriety checkpoints in the 4 states of District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Coauthors Michael C. Tillotson & Robert Battle, Virginia DUI Defense Lawyers have covered sobriety checkpoints in their recently released book DUI/DWI Virginia Arrest Survival Guide – The Guilt Myth. The following is an exerpt from the book concerning sobriety checkpoints:

While most DUI stops are made by individual officers on the road, there may be times when you encounter a sobriety checkpoint. There are a number of rules that govern how sobriety checkpoints are set up and conducted, rules that you should be familiar with. One of the most important is that the location of the checkpoints must be announced to the public before they are set up, commonly in newspapers and on the internet. There is nothing wrong with learning where the checkpoints will be in order to avoid them. That is your legal right.
